Lake Volunteers Celebrate Early Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving comes early this year to the office of For the Love of the Lake.

The all-volunteer organization responsible for multiple improvements around White Rock Lake such as the Celebration Tree Grove celebrates its annual FTLOTL Pot Luck Supper starting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the group's office.

The event is open to anyone in the community who wants to participate, and new volunteers are always welcome. The organizers ask people to bring an appetizer, a side dish, or a dessert. The turkey — and it's a Thanksgiving dinner, so there has to be a turkey — will be provided by Central Market.

The event also includes an opportunity for volunteers to swap holiday recipes. Primarily, though, the dinner allows lake-lovers to become better acquainted and share in a sense of accomplishment at maintaining the beauty that is White Rock Lake.

Looking ahead, the organization again will provide course guides for this year's White Rock Marathon, which takes place Dec. 14. Volunteers for the annual event are welcome to sign up during the Thanksgiving dinner.End of story
