Greenland Hills United Methodist Church sponsored the Global Village Market, a two-day event that brought together charitable organizations and fair-trade retailers.

Thinking Globally, Buying Locally

Greenland Hills United Methodist Church put on its annual Global Village Market last weekend to give an early assist to holiday shoppers and to help people in need the world over.

The event brought together charitable organizations and fair-trade retailers from whom shoppers could select from a litany of international and hand-made items. A portion of the proceeds will help fund social service such as play therapy for a traumatized East Dallas child, purchase cattle for underfed families in impoverished countries, stock food banks, and supply medications to people in need.

The market also included items designed to increase environmental conservation to help stem global warming. The church also raised money to fund a mission trip later this month to Juarez, Mexico, where volunteers will build a house for a needy family.End of story
