Handing away your heart

I've written about losing pets before — Hunter and Sofie most recently and Sterling before my life at Black White Read — and I'll likely do it again. Like now.

But this one is a good news story.

Check out those Dr. Suess ears on Trixie.

About a month ago, Trixie came into our lives because some reprehensible jerks didn't want her anymore and turned her out. We fostered her — me being the primary caregiver in this little scenario — with the hopes of finding a good home for her.

I tried not to get too attached to her, but sometimes the heart has plans of its own.

We found that good home and took her over there earlier tonight. Man, talk about your bittersweet moments petting her for what most probably was one last time before walking out the door.

Good girl, Trixie. Good girl. End of story

Such great news! Trixie looks very happy with her new family. But she was a very lucky girl to have had you and the Divine Miss C taking her in and caring for her!
